The Passing of a Great Soul

January 2014

Its rare when the world mourns the loss of a indivual. Tributes poured in from every corner of the world and every level in society when it was announced that Nelson Mandela had lost his valiant fight with his chronic lung infection. He had fought for so long that although his passing was expected, it still came as a shock and great sadness to everyone.    READ THIS ENTRY

Lift the Stone

November 2013

Hidden in the 114 logia is one of the most astonishing statement by Jesus: "I am the All". The All, the Father, the One, the Mother, the Light are all synonyms of the Divine; even this word can mean many things to each of us. Here Jesus is declaring that he is joined with the Divine; that he is a personification of the Divine. In the other gospels they use the term 'Son of God', but here he states that he is 'God'. No wonder the Gospel of Thomas causes such a stir within established churchmen and women.    READ THIS ENTRY

Angels and Prophets

September 2013

Angels, by any name, exist in many world religions. Whether they are Buddhist 'devas', Muslim 'malaikah', or Mormon ministering spirits, angels play important roles in many faiths. God is not the Divine

July 2013

The Divine is not the same thing as God. The Divine cannot be described in words. Instead we form images and symbols to understand this mystery that surrounds us. Every society has created their own images normally known collectively as 'gods'. Those old gods and goddesses were seen as all-powerful beings in a human shape although if donkeys had gods they would perceive them as donkeys.    READ THIS ENTRY

The Divine Within

May 2013

We all have our unique way of perceiving and understanding the world so it would be a mistake to assume that any word or phrase means the same to everyone else. Such a phrase is “the Divine Within”    READ THIS ENTRY

What's the Key?

March 2013

We seem to be drowning in a sea of information pushed out through today's media: newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, internet, and social media. It is difficult not to feel overwhelmed by this assault that attempts to install 'the message' in our minds. The obvious irony is that I'm using this medium as a channel for Jesus' message in the Gospel of Thomas.    READ THIS ENTRY

The Knock at the Door

January 2013

An innkeeper opens his door to find a weary man with a heavily pregnant girl close to exhaustion. He dreads what they will ask him as his hostelry is bursting at the seams with lodgers. He sees something in the couple's faces and their presence to feel compassion so he offers them the best he could do: his stable. And the rest is history. So it could be said that the Christmas story started with that knock on a door.   READ THIS ENTRY
